My name is Maggie Rynearson, and I am currently serving as your Interim ILHS PTSA President. I have decided to step up and officially run for the President position at our upcoming General PTSA meeting on Thursday, October 16th at 6:30 pm in the ILHS Great Hall.
We welcome everyone to attend this first General Meeting, however, please note that only current PTSA members are eligible to vote. If you haven’t already, I encourage you to join ILHS PTSA today!
At this meeting, Kimberly Stebner will also be self-nominating for the Vice President position. In addition, self-nominations will be taken from the floor during the meeting for anyone interested.
This is my official introduction to everyone with some background. I have been an active parent volunteer in the PTSA for over 20yrs with 3 children that have graduated from IHS. My youngest son Mason, graduated from ILHS this last year, the class of 2025. He is off to Western later this month rooming with another grad from ILHS he was lucky enough to get to know at ILHS. For us coming into ILHS during it's infant stages (only open 2yrs when he started) it was the best choice that our family made together.
Yes that's right, our son willingly made this choice. He hated school before ILHS & then blossomed & found his confidence. He attended running start at Cascadia his Junior & Senior year, but still chose to attend one class at ILHS so that he was part of the school. He's made so many long term friends here & his whole attitude about school & himself has us confident he will be successful on his next life step.
From our son's enjoyment of the school & the fact that this school allows for siblings to come attend events, our youngest daughter Angel then made the choice to attend ILHS as well. This is a huge choice for any kid to make, especially if your going to a new HS without any of your MS friend group. Angel is now a Sophomore at ILHS & absolutely loves the choice she made.
I've also found an amazing supporting group with both the staff & families at ILHS. Had you asked me any time before if I would be a PTA president the answer would have been a HARD NO! ILHS is so different. The families & staff here are all so welcoming & helpful I'm actually excited to be your PTSA President this year. For those familiar with me or anyone new, I've been the chair of both Staff & Student Appreciation the last 4yrs & plan to continuing in this position as well, with my new co chair Jenn Snyder for the next 3 yrs if possible.
I'm always open for communication. Feel free to reach out to me at president@ilhsptsa.org if you have any questions or concerns. I will do my best to respond within 1 week.
